Winter has finally arrived in my neck of the woods. Call me crazy, but I've been waiting for old man Winter's icy visit. Fall was very warm and long. I enjoyed it, but when in early Winter there was only a skiff of snow on the ground and the temperature didn't go much below 0 degrees celsius, I began to yearn for the cold. I'm not generally a Winter person, but there is nothing like walk in the cold to clear and refresh. I know some of you won't feel much sympathy for me, but I just can't help but feel that, where I live, Winter should be Winter, and Spring should be Spring. It's the natural cycle up here. It was just last week I looked out the window to see what was tap-tapping on my deck only to find water dripping off the roof in a resounding splat from the melting temperatures. I can't say that I liked that too much. I'm much more comfortable now with the -24 we're feeling today. Now as I look out my window into the crisp, cold air, I see that the bird feeder needs to be refilled, and the suet cage needs a new chunk. But I'll take care of that later today. . . . . when it warms up a little more!!! Warmly, Phyl |
